UEGCL Honoured as most Outstanding (MDA) Performer in Occupational Safety and Health at National Commemorations
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) proudly participated in the national commemorations of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, held on 28th April 2025 at the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) in Namanve.
Observed under the theme “Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitization at Work,” this year’s event emphasized the transformative power of emerging technologies in improving workplace safety. It provided a platform for government agencies, private sector entities, and other stakeholders to showcase innovations and share best practices in occupational safety and health (OSH).
During the event, UEGCL was recognized as the Most Outstanding MDA Performer in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards, a prestigious honor that underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment. This achievement reflects the deliberate and sustained efforts by UEGCL to integrate health and safety into every aspect of its operations through proactive policies, regular workplace inspections, continuous staff training, and the adoption of smart technologies.
Speaking after receiving the award, UEGCL CEO Dr. Eng. Harrison E. Mutikanga congratulated the Board, management, and all staff on this remarkable milestone. “I want to thank my team, especially the Department of Safety, Health, Quality, and Environment, who have championed health and safety in the organization,” he said.
