
UEGCL CEO Dr. Eng. Harrison Mutikanga Elected Vice President for Africa on ICOLD Board
We are proud to announce that Dr. Eng. Harrison E. Mutikanga, CEO of Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL), has been elected as the Vice President for Africa on the Board of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD). This prestigious appointment recognizes his exceptional leadership in the energy sector and underscores Uganda’s growing influence in global infrastructure development.
Dr. Mutikanga brings over 30 years of experience in civil engineering, water distribution, and power generation. He holds a PhD in Water Distribution Efficiency from Delft University of Technology and has previously served as General Manager for Kampala Water at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation. Under his leadership, UEGCL has overseen the development of major projects such as the Isimba and Karuma Hydroelectric Power Stations, significantly contributing to Uganda’s energy capacity.
ICOLD, founded in 1928, is a global organization dedicated to advancing dam engineering and water resource management. With 97-member countries, ICOLD provides a platform for professionals to share knowledge and best practices in the planning, design, construction, and operation of large dams.
Dr. Mutikanga’s election to ICOLD’s Board is a testament to his expertise and the international recognition of Uganda’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development. This achievement not only elevates UEGCL’s standing on the global stage but also reflects the nation’s dedication to advancing engineering excellence and water resource management.
As Vice President for Africa, Dr. Mutikanga will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of dam engineering and water resource management across the continent, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among member countries.
